The following photography courses offered throughout the year are:

• Photography Essentials - Basic Digital SLR Operation
  • This course in Photography Essentials will focus on and prepare you in the basic fundamentals of Digital SLR camera operation, and the use of light which is essential to good photography. No prerequisites required.  (2 Hr)

• Photography Essentials - Basic Point & Shoot Operation
  • This course in Photography Essentials will focus on and prepare you in the basic fundamentals of Point & Shoot camera operation, and the use of light which is essential to good photography. No prerequisites required.  (2 Hr)

• Photography Essentials - Exposure & Composition

• In the first part of the course, we will discuss the exposure triangle and exposure essentials. This will include discussions in shutter speed, aperture, and ISO setting and how they interact. The discussion will also include how to use your DSLR camera to set these exposures. There are many DSLR camera operations that are associated with managing exposure so it will be beneficial to understand these basics to better understand your camera.

  In the second part of this course, we will discuss essentials in photographic Composition. Composition will cover some of the rules involved in capturing the details that make up a good photo. Basic consideration will be given to Rule of Thirds, subject determination, detail, lines, and other basic fundamentals of composition. Where necessary, we will discuss basic DSLR camera menu settings and camera functions that coincide with good photo composition. 

 Introduction to Photoshop Elements 

• • Photoshop Elements is part of the Adobe family of photographic editing software. The initial discussion will focus on the proper capture of a subject within the camera as well as the definition of RAW & JPEG formats, but will quickly move to post-processing activities using PSE. The course will include defining the individual capabilities of the software as well as bringing your image into PSE, what to look for in an image and what actions need to be taken to improve your photo. Basics of cropping and auto-enhancing your image will also be discussed.  No prerequisites required (2 hrs)

• SW Florida has a myriad of photographic opportunities. At times we offer local photographic outings to specific locations with specific photographic concepts to practice. Join us to learn, meet people and have fun.
